Hypothesis

A proposal intended to explain certain facts or observations. It's just a scientific term for stating what you expect the outcome of an experiment to be and the reason why you expect it. A well written hypothesis needs to be precise about,

• what is expected to change (the independent variable)
• under what conditions (change in the dependent variable)
• and in what way it will change.
